Here I will talk about the online publishing platforms that worked and didn’t for me. These are my personal experiences. It is different for everyone.
I prefer platforms that work for the indie manga creator. Not the ones pushing them aside to make their paltform more ‘popular’ so they can showcase only paid studio content.
Some platforms only work good with romance, drama and fantasy as their main readers.
Some have moderators or AI bots that flag content that ‘does follow community guidelines’.
Some have a puritan world wide religious / credit card company, 1800s dark ages ratings system.
I will do my favourite platforms first. There are 2. Comic Fury and Fables Pro ( X )

The platform has been around for decades and relies on donations and fundraising. It was created for Indie creators. I love how the readers who find the site are not just intrested in drama, romance and fantasy. They love my genres of Horror, Supernatural and Action.
I don’t like to use the forums much. A couple appointed moderators have gotten into arguments with me in helping others code. Thinking my responses were nonsense and spammy. Until I asked how. Then they realised I was correct in my response and would backtrack.
Customization: They allow for custom themes. Either using a pre-existing theme or making one yourself. I started with a premade in 2019, however once I became familiar with their code blocks, etc. I just mashed up my own. HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, Javascript, etc. You can host static image files onsite.
Cover image, catelogue thumnail, archive images and forum banner.
Rating System: Its a UK site, but on a US hosting platform on DreamHost. Which allows for any legal content. And stands by it. This platform asks that you rate your manga, comic, etc. Properly and label it so that it keeps minors out. Mine is set to B, L, V, NSN in Canada thats 14+ in the US its 17+.

Fables Pro and its 17+ and up, twin Fables X are new to 2025 for Indie creators. It is owned by the decades old still running Top WebComic.
They rotate whos on the top list. So you could be new with 1 page and still be on it. They have contests and community events. You even win actual physical trophies.
If you connect your TOP WEBCOMICS account with it, it expands your exposure.
They will be starting up soon again promoting on their social media accounts on various platforms. One just needs to submit a free ad based on their demensions. Its on hiatus currently as they restructure that better and more efficiently.
Customization: Only the header, catalogue thumbnail, pages thumbnails and 1 for Top Web Comics link and 1 for a personal link.
I love that they have a very engaging community forum on this DISCORD SERVER.
I have been with them for a short time. In less then a year my views went up to 12.5K by December 2025.
Rating System: Its a US site. But allows for any legal content. And stands by it. This platform asks that you rate your manga, comic, etc. Properly and label it so that it keeps minors out. The censored version is on Fables Pro with G and or M ratings. The uncensored version is on Fables X due to it being 14+ (17+ US).

I started Tapas back in 2021 I think. It was a snail start and still is. They are known for showcasing paid studio novels and webtoons over Indie ones. The covers seem to look the same as if AI generated. They seem to use the undie creators to expand their exposure in the market for free. Readers on that platform perfer Drama, Romance and Fantasy. So my Horror bottoms out on it.
The forum community is very active and I’ve had no issues there. They have a DISCORD too.
Weak in readership for my Horror, Supernatural and Action with only 6.7k since 2021.
Customization: Only the header, catalogue thumbnail and cover and page thumbnails.
Rating System: They use either uneducated moderators of whats allowed for community guidelines. Or bots that scan images wrong and label them. Much to how Meta does. They follow a strict puritan world wide religious / credit card company, 1800s dark ages US ratings system. As with many platforms they have to. It’s not by choice. And do not allow all Mature content. They get finiky, if its 14+ in US ratings and deem it as full on adult in their eyes. Plus No adult content allowed.
I had censored a female chest and made it into a solid black bikini, but to them its porn. I censor blood smudges into milk and remove PG slang because its too R rated for them.

I had Mantodea standing over a desk. Wearing her pants, top, and cloak. But it was flagged by AI as full on porn. Does she need to be wearing a sheet with holes, to look like a ghost to be deemed non pornographic? I have a fully furry male demon, it shows no skin nor chest nor genitals and was deemed full on pornographic?

I started Nami Comi back in 2023, its a new platform. It was a snail start and then stopped…… Below is the current stats as of December 2025.
They do paid paid content and Indie ones. They do promote indie creators on their social media accounts at times. They do some community events. But I never joined them so unsure how they are.
Readers on that platform perfer Drama, Romance and Fantasy. So my Horror bottoms out on it.
They have a community forum on DISCORD SERVER.
Their UI is still very much buggy and has error codes.
Weak in readership for my Horror with only 102 views (not 100K) since 2023.
Customization: Only the header, catalogue thumbnail and cover and page thumbnails. They do have customizable reading options too. Each reader can chose. Like book or strip in a more lightbox gallery idea.

I had to rate mine adult on the platform, just because my manga has fight scenes, even if they don’t have blood. Due to the label physical violence.
